The Beginnings of BSWI

My name is Wayne Clements. I am the President and Founder of Business Solutions with Integrity Inc. (“BSWI”).

Computers have absolutely fascinated me since they first appeared in our high school back in the 70s. In 1982 after university my curiosity and technological aptitude led me to becoming IBM’s first PC support technician in Canada which made my family proud.

In 1992 I decided to challenge myself by launching BSWI to further explore how instrumental computers could be in growing and improving businesses. Becoming an entrepreneur and running a business energizes me as much as my passion for the rapid technological developments of the information age that we were embracing!

We have been graced with many long-term clients, some of whom have been with us for decades. Our clients are small to medium sized firms ranging in size from 5 to over 500 users.

Our clients span the entire business spectrum, from law and accounting firms to property management companies, manufacturing plants, and everything in between. We also serve many not-for-profit businesses as well.

We are fortunate to have a broad spectrum of interesting and diverse clients which keeps our days full and interesting. Most of all, we have gained incredible insight into what our clients need to grow and have peace of mind without them having to be concerned with their IT.

Security has always been of utmost concern to us! During the pandemic with clients’ staff working remotely and adopting hybrid operating models, their needs for enhanced cyber security have escalated. 

We developed a successful multi-layer approach which secured clients working either at their company or home offices. To reinforce our clients’ cyber safety we developed and provide end user staff training to enhance their cyber security through prevention. We want everyone to “stay safe”.

The very real threat of cyber security has vastly impacted everyone in the past five years. International cyber-attacks are now a constant threat and are getting more sophisticated as international cybercriminals learn and get better at their craft. 

If you operate a small or medium sized company, statistics tell us that it’s “not if but when” you will get attacked. As a result we continually assess our cyber security software and practices to ensure that our clients are protected.

As my business developed, I became increasingly aware  that “billable hours” was a deeply flawed model for providing quality, long term IT services. It seemed to skew the motivation of the service provider towards “more billable hours” instead of “more efficiency”.

“Billable hours” often hinder proactive problem prevention, process optimization, and the development of a strong infrastructure. This model typically leads to overworked experts, underinvestment in staff and training, and high employee turnover.

“Billable hours” projects can also affect your decision making about keeping up with IT developments and committing to business-building IT projects.

Some of our senior technicians have been with us since our humble beginnings. Our combined knowledge deepened over time and has definitely been our leverage and advantage in developing custom solutions and resolving clients’ technological problems.
